Published July 2008 Many scooter freaks came to Moravska Trebová last weekend to join the second round of Eurocup and I guess, that all of them bring back home memories of an excellent scooter races. In my point of view, it was the best scooter weekend I have taken part in since European Championships in Italy 2005. On Saturday organisers prepared morning 700m sprint. Petr Pesta, Michal Spinka, Jaromír Odvarka and Jan Vlasek made it to the finals, where finally Jan Vlasek took his first victory of the seazon. Martina Smitkova won in the women field. In the afternoon it was 30km long race - just one lap in the beautiful surroundings of Moravska Trebová. Ladislav Provod and Petr Pesta escaped on the 8km mark being pursued by group of 9 riders. This group tightened to 5 athletes after a long 8km limb and sharp downhill - here Hans Korbee (NED) could not keep the field when going down, which was a pity for him, because he seemed to be really strong in the previous kilometers. All five guys came together under the final 1km steep limb and finally Ultima riders Jan Vlasek, Jaromír Odvarka and Milan Gazarek took 3rd, 4th and 5th place some 4 minutes behind Ladislav Provod and 1m30s behind Petr Pesta. In the women field it was Martina Smitkova again. Well, after having some fun in aquapark we went to the castle party, where 3 barrels of bier and some pork was free. The local DJ played well-known international hits and so it was easy to create a friendly atmosphere. Mr. Liska suddenly commanded the Eurocup field to go to DUKU-DUKU disco, where the party was finishing around 3 o´clock in the morning. Morning was sunny and painfull for some of us. All things turned to be better when Lars Kessler came smiling as ever - the competition could start again. First it was the EC relay race won by Kidokai-Ultima, Ultima was second and PSP KK Pilsen 3rd. The PSP KK Pilsen ladies won ahead of Italian and Dutch girls. The Czech Rollo legue 7km kriterium race, which was not part of the Eurocup, however all the athletes took part in, started a bit later in the morning. It was more or less flat and windy race won by Ladislav Provod ahead of Petr Pesta and Michal Spinka, Hans Korbee lost the third place in the final sprint to finish 4th ahead of Jan Vlasek. It was really a wonderfull weekend and many more funny and nice things happened, even more then I could write in this report. We all are looking forward the World Champs in Holland and we would like to help the Dutch organisers with creating a friendly and easy going atmosphere, so all the athletes could enjoy those four days in the Netherlands. That is why we come to Holland. Many thanks to Pavel Legat and his crew for great weekend and many patience to the Dutch orgnisers with creating the 3rd World Champs ever. I guess we all apriciate that. Keep kicking and CU in two weeks. Jan Vlasek
