21 June 2002 the European Championship Scootering 2002 started in centre of the Czech town Carlsbad. Lot of spectators and an exhiting race. The organizers offered a qualited event for the international field. Participants came from Finland, Czech, Germany, Austria, Italy, New Zealand and the Netherlands.
Alpo Kuusisto from Finland and Hermien Koers from the Netherlands won the 12 km rrace on Friday. Also Day 2 in the long distance race Alpo was the fastes in the men field after a close battle. Markéta Štejrová from Czech won the ladies race. The winning team in men relay race on the same day was team 1 from Finland. The women relay was won by the Czech team from Plzen.
Day 3 sprint - in centre of Plzen. Hot temperatures made the sprint races tough. Winner was Hannu Vierikko from Finland and in women race took Hermien Koers the title to the Netherlands.
